It’s wedding week for Melissa and Vince! We’re all so excited to celebrate their marriage on Saturday at the Glenwood Chapel and The Club. It will be my last wedding of 2021, and an especially sweet one because Melissa is a high school friend. I think most photographers will tell you that photographing friends during some of their most important life moments is the biggest honor. I’m incredibly grateful Melissa and Vince asked me to be their wedding photographer – the weekend is going to be so special! Earlier in the fall, Melissa, Vince, and I got together for their engagement session on Vestavia Drive in Vestavia Hills, and at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. One of my favorite ways to prepare for a wedding weekend is to reflect on a couple’s engagement session. Revisiting the photos is always a treat in the days leading up to a wedding!
The best engagement sessions are focused on presence. A typical wedding day can feel fast-paced in the best way possible! Depending on the schedule, the day might not hold a lot of space for long stretches of bride and groom photos. Engagement sessions are the best opportunity to slow down, enjoy each others’ company, and get used to taking photos together. Being photographed doesn’t come naturally to most people, so a “practice run” to get more comfortable can be helpful!
Enjoy photos from Melissa and Vince’s Vestavia Hills and Birmingham Botanical Gardens engagement session! As always, if you know anyone looking for a Birmingham wedding or engagement photographer, please send them my way. I’d love to help them savor and celebrate this season of their relationship with photographs.
