“Why do we take family photos?” It was a simple question my friend Mattye asked her daughter. We were beginning one of the many family photo sessions we’ve done together. She responded in her sweet, four-year-old voice, “To tell a story!” And tell a story, we do.

I love family photos, season after season, as families grow, as milestones are celebrated. Photographing a family over time is hands-down my favorite thing about family photography. This sweet family welcomed their third child into the world this summer, and we documented the occasion with newborn and family photos at home.
