A couple of memories come to mind when I think about Anna and Alex’s wedding at The Donnelly House. First, the importance of family. Anna and Alex both have tight-knit families, and the importance they placed on honoring their family members throughout the wedding day was evident. Second, the rain. This was the rainiest wedding day I’ve ever photographed! I think most couples would dread the possibility of rainy weather on their wedding day, but Anna and Alex embraced it and didn’t let it cast a shadow on their day. They were completely focused on what truly mattered – their marriage to each other, and inviting their closest friends and family to celebrate with them.
One of the best parts of wedding photography is documenting the story and the people, so during bride and groom photos, I asked Anna and Alex to think back to when they first met (in high school!), and if they could remember their first impressions of each other. Alex said he remembered Anna as “the cute soccer girl”. Anna remembered Alex as “the popular guy who would probably never talk to me”. It wasn’t until many years after high school that the two got together. Even so, hearing how their initial thoughts about each other later grew into more – a relationship, and eventually a marriage – was the sweetest.
